7 Days Without MakeUp. An Experiment

It has been a month since my last experiment and I felt the need to do another one. There are a few reasons for that. Firstly, it really worked! I am much less on my daily social media consumption right now and I do believe the challenge helped. Secondly, it’s just really fun to do them. By simply deciding to do or not to do something for a week keeps it interesting and brings out something fresh in you every day.

I know people who by reading the title of this article might think that it’s not that big of a deal to live without makeup – they almost never wear it anyway. And there are people who will never agree to go makeupless. There are three reasons why I like and use makeup:IMG_7366

  1. My skin is not perfect and makeup does help with that. It evens out the skin tone and covers up an occasional breakout. Thanks, makeup!
  2. I do believe that makeup protects my skin from the outside influences. It acts as a physical shield for the face and doesn’t let car emissions and other stuff on the street directly affect the skin.
  3. I simply love makeup for what it can do to emphasize certain features of my face. And I think there is nothing wrong with that. Personally, I like to accentuate my eyes and cheekbones.

Why am I doing the experiment then?

Despite all the wonderful reasons above it is no secret that most makeup contains chemicals and is not very healthy for the skin, especially if worn all day every day. But most importantly, I do want to feel more comfortable in my own skin when I’m out. Following the #IAmEnough movement I do believe that we are beautiful the way we are and should not feel obliged to constantly “perfect” ourselves.

The Experiment

  • I will not be wearing any makeup for 7 days starting Monday May 11th
    • By makeup I mean: foundation, powder, bronzer, blush, concealer, mascara, brow powder, eyeshadow, etc.
  • I will still use face wash and sunscreen
  • I will be posting #NoMakeup selfie on my Instagram every day so you can keep me accountable 🙂
  • I will update this post on Sunday, May 17th.

Until then, go follow me on Instagram: sash_ru. I can do it! (Men do it every day).
