Summer Business

Business casual is a tricky dress code. It can mean many different things depending on what company you work for. Generally, business casual is more relaxed than formal ‘suit and tie’ attire yet still pulled together and rather strict. Materials matter the most. It is a safe bet to avoid denim and other ‘chill’ materials such as stretchy cotton-spandex mixes. Go for 100% natural cotton or silk blouses and a comfy pair of pants or a skirt. They are just as comfortable as tanks, jeans or leggings, but more work appropriate (duh).

I truly believe that it is a misconception that work clothes can’t be comfortable. Comfort is key in my wardrobe. Never go for something that you don’t feel good in, even if it seems the most fitting for work. Try everything on, mix and match until you reach your level of comfort, style and appropriateness. And who says we can’t make our work outfits fun and colourful? Summer allowing.

I always like a fresh pop of colour. Here I paired neutral grey pants with a vibrant dark turquoise shirt. AC is working hard in the offices, so don’t forget to throw on a blazer – this white one also adds a crisp finish to the look. Finally, we can’t forget classy (and comfortable!) shoes. They are true leather, which is always easier on the feet, and have a small heel – just enough.
